Sediment Filters
We offer a range of high-capacity sediment filters with automated backwash capability. These sediment filters remove floating particulates and sediment as small as 3 microns and treats cloudy water.
Backwashing sediment filters offer a distinct advantage over typical cartridge filter systems with significantly reduced maintenance requirements. Since the system automatically backwashes itself, there are no filters to change, which not only cuts down on maintenance time but costs as well.
Turbidex™
Turbidex™ granules consist of a high surface area alumino-silicate mineral that provides exceptional suspended solids filtration. The macroporous nature of TurbidexTM allows for filtration at levels below 5 Microns in particle size.
The irregular surface area and extensive porosity of TurbidexTM makes it the perfect filtration media for any application where solids removal is essential to the process. Equipment can be smaller or faster flow rates can be achieved for a given size. Particles down to 5 to 10 micron are typically removed. Turbidex must be soaked before use.
How does it work?
Water flows into the valve at the top, down through the media and then up through the ‘riser’ tube in the middle of the vessel. As the water travels through the media the sediment is trapped so only clean clear water flows out to service. There are timer options that can be set to automatically self-clean (backwash) and wash away any accumulated sediment.
