Common Causes
Hydrogen sulphide generated by a chemical reaction with anti-corrosion magnesium rod (often called the “anode rod”) in hot water heater.
Possible Solutions
Remove and omit rod or replace with alternate metal rod (caution: removing rod may void the heater warranty).
