Removal of PFOS and PFOA from residential water supply.

PFOS and PFOA are man-made chemicals belonging to the group known as Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances.  Over the decades, they have seeped into various water sources. Given the potential health risks linked to prolonged PFAS /PFOA consumption, it’s crucial to find effective methods for their removal, such as Reverse Osmosis (RO) and ion selective resins .These ‘forever chemicals’ are suspected of increasing the risk of some cancers in particular renal and testicular cancers.  These chemicals are also associated with compromised immune responses, changes in liver enzymes and increased cholesterol.  US EPA is setting enforceable Maximum Contaminant Levels at 4.0 parts per trillion for PFOA and PFOS, individually .It’s a stark comparison to Australia’s drinking water guidelines, which allow 70 parts per trillion of PFOS and 560 parts per trillion of PFOA.

Point of Entry Systems:

Stage 1: Sediment Filter 1 or 5 microns

Stage 2: Carbon Block – Bacteriostatic

Stage 3:  Purolite PFAS/ PFOA selective ion exchange resin

Purolite’s Purofine® PFA694 family of products provides high selectivity for poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). This single-use, uniform particle-size resin incorporates dual removal mechanisms of ion exchange and adsorption technology for maximum uptake of PFAS.

Drinking Water – PFA694E has become a standard treatment technology for drinking water treatment.

For added protection and   provision of high-quality drinking water, Pacific Water Technology offers under sink reverse osmosis system with a final alkaline stage.  Reverse Osmosis. Reverse osmosis is a water purification process that uses a semi-permeable membrane (synthetic lining) to filter out unwanted molecules and large particles such as contaminants and sediments like chlorine, salt, and PFOS from drinking water.

One of the systems that Pacific Water Technology offers is the Purepro ERS106 A.

These reverse osmosis systems provide additional activated carbon filtration ( two stages) ,  reverse osmosis ( 0.0001 micron)  and carbon post filter to ensure    removal of PFAS /PFOA  to extreme low levels . 

The Alkaline ERS-106A Reverse Osmosis Water Filters are equipped with a 6-stage filtration system, including an Alkaline Filter, which ensures the highest quality water for drinking.
