Portable Seawater Desalinator – Overview
Produce fresh water anywhere, anytime with the Portable Seawater Desalinator unit. The suitcase sized portable unit, owing to its size & manoeuvrability, is able to be used in a variety of environments including boats, yachts, transport ships, geological exploration sites, military fields, islands and any other environment where clean & safe drinking water is not readily available.
How much freshwater do you need?
The World Health Organisation recommends at least one litre of fresh water per person per day to maintain hydration. Obviously, that figure is for survival conditions, not summer vacation. A freshwater consumption of two quarts per person per day is more realistic, assuming that this is augmented with other liquids and that normal water conservation methods are used (saltwater showers, rinsing veggies in salt water, etc.).

Process Description
- Self-priming Head: The self-priming head is a bottom valve that is put into the water source to be filtered as the first filtration barrier of the system. The head is made of food grade material, has an ergonomic design, a POM shell, houses medical stone particles, has a SS filter mesh (for triple filtration) and only weighs 40 g.
- The medical stone is an ideal water purifying agent and modifier. It has a high adsorption and removal effect on heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic and hexavalent chromium in water.
- The SS mesh has a 80 mesh rating and can prevent large impurities (such as gravel) from entering the system and possibly damaging the water pup or the seawater desalination membrane.
- Self-priming pump: The self-priming pump uses DC 24V power supply, rate current 2A and has a self-priming height of 1.5m (vertical).
- PP Filter: PP filter is a commonly used water treatment filter cartridge, which can effectively remove suspended solids, particles, rust and other impurities in the liquid. The product adopts food-grade PP shell and melt-blow PP cotton fillings, which effectively removes suspended substances in raw water and effectively reduces turbidity to ensure the inlet water requirement of the RO membrane are met.
- High Pressure Pump: The high pressure pump consists of SS316 pump head, DC 24V power supply and has a rated power of 250W. The high pressure pumps provides the required pressure for seawater desalination and ensures the desalination rate of the system.
- Seawater Desalination Membrane: Seawater desalination membrane is the core component of the system that is capable of a desalination rate of >98%. The RO membrane with it’s 0.0001 micron pore size is able to separate permeable pure water from impermeable concentrated water (i.e. inorganic salts, heavy metal ions, organic matter, colloid, bacteria, viruses & other impurities).
