Liquid Phase Bituminous Coal Activated Carbon

Description

Liquid Phase Bituminous Coal Activated  Carbon  COL-L 60 (12×40)

COL-L 60 Bituminous coal activated carbon is a hard, regenerable granular activated carbon (GAC) manufactured from select grades of bituminous coal. It is a high-density carbon with a large pore volume and high surface area. Its pore structure has been developed for the adsorption of both high and low molecular weight impurities. COL-L 60 Bituminous coal activated carbon is commonly used for purifying potable water, ground water and waste water, and a wide variety of decolourising/deodourising applications. COL-L 60 Bituminous coal activated carbon meets AWWA B604-96 standards and Food Chemicals Codex Standards for drinking water applications and is ANSI/NSF Standard 61 certified.

APPLICATIONS

Used for purifying potable water, ground water and wastewater, and a wide variety of decolourising/ deodorising applications.

PFOS Removal Ground water and waste water .

It is also used for PFOS  (C8HF17O3S) removal . Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances, also known as “PFASs”, are a group of man-made chemicals (previously known as PFCs) that have been used in a range of common household products and specialty applications, including in the manufacture of non-stick cookware; fabric, furniture and carpet stain protection applications; food packaging; some industrial processes; and in some types of fire-fighting foam.

Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorohexane sulfonate (PFHxS) belong to this group of chemicals. These chemicals are very stable and do not break down in the environment. They can persist for a long time both in the environment and in humans. They have recently become very prominent due to issues caused by contaminated groundwater in Queensland.   This problem is however not only restricted to this state and in New South Wales, Williamstown has been identified with locations of high PFOS.

For effective treatment a contact time of 10 minutes is recommended- however this also depends on the quality of the source water.
